Training and competence

Qualitcare24-7 provides induction, supervision and ongoing learning for staff. Training is matched to each person’s role and the needs set out in care plans. Staff are assessed as competent for the tasks they undertake, with refresher learning and support when practice or requirements change.

Core learning

Topics include safeguarding adults and children, health and safety, infection prevention, moving and handling, basic life support, medicines, mental capacity, equality, communication, privacy and dignity, nutrition and person-centred care. Staff supporting people with learning disabilities and autism receive relevant learning, including the Oliver McGowan training appropriate to their role.

Support for specific needs

We plan additional training and competency checks where a person’s assessed needs require them, such as dementia care, positive behaviour support, end-of-life support or specialist equipment. A clinical procedure is only considered after assessment, clear instructions and confirmation that appropriately qualified or trained staff can deliver it safely. Clinical treatment remains with the relevant healthcare professionals unless specifically agreed within our service.
